Art Club for Adults: Develop your Painting

Develop your Painting with acrylics. An 8 week course with Debbie on Saturdays, 2 - 5pm, from 13th January to 2nd March.

Level: Intermediate - some previous experience in drawing and acrylic painting needed. Suitable for anyone who has completed Debbie’s acrylic painting course: Painting - Next Steps, or those who are at an intermediate level with some drawing knowledge.

Acrylic paint is an extremely versatile medium, capable of capturing rich, intense colour with a luscious quality. It can have the appearance of both oil paint or watercolour depending on the technique used by the artist.

This course will help to develop and refine your acrylic painting skills, improve direct observation, build on technique and gain confidence in your work. Inspiration for subject matter is found from a wide range of subjects including still life. Composition, colour mixing, methods of application and the effect of mediums are just some of the areas covered during the course.

Projects are set by your tutor with the option to expand on these at home if you wish to continue your painting after the class ends. Emphasis will be more on the development of technique than the production of a “finished” painting. Although, any completed paintings are a bonus! The course will include practical activities, tutor demonstrations and presentations, one to one guidance and group discussions. Armed with some newfound knowledge and confidence, you may wish to further

develop your skills and personal style long after the course has finished.

This is a relaxed and friendly course held in an encouraging and supportive environment. A hot drink and all materials are included in the cost. If you have your own materials that you would like to use, you are welcome to bring them with you.
