About the event
Holiday Art Club with Claire. In this relaxed workshop we'll explore a variety of monoprinting and monotyping ideas - from carbon copy paper to frottage. Please ensure you wear old clothes! Age 8+. Drop off.
In this fun (and messy!) session, we'll be tracing drawings onto paper over inked sheets, and also taking prints from inky surfaces which we've painted. It's colourful and fun and lends itself really well to experimentation!
What is it? Monoprint and monotype refer to making a single print from an inked surface - either by removing or adding ink. Whilst Monoprint can refer to a unique print taken from a series using the same substrate (for example, a print taken from a linocut, but which has a colour combination that is not repeated), a monotype refers to a 'one off specific and unique print' (see the images above 'drawn' onto paper which has been placed on an inked surface).
Part of 'A Summer of Print', kindly supported by Adur & Worthing Trust Creative Commissions 2023.
