Holiday Art Club: Screenprint on a T-shirt

We'll use stencils to create a bold graphic image, which we'll screenprint onto a t shirt - please bring along a clean, plain t shirt if you'd like to use it. Otherwise, we have plenty of fabric you can use. Age 10+. Drop off. With Claire.

Screen-printing is a proces sof transferring a stenciled design onto a flat surface using a screen, ink and a squeegee which forces the ink through the mesh of the screen. Although fabric and paper are the most common screen-printed surfaces, with special inks you can also print onto wood, metal and plastics. A “stencil” can be cut from thin paper, created photographically, or painted directly onto the screen with screen blockers. Designs for screen prints can use just one shade of colour, or several, but colours need to be applied in individual layers, using a separate stencil for each colour. When attached to the…
