About the event

A fun hands-on workshop creating different stencils and experimenting with printing in colour onto paper. All materials provided. With Claire.

All materials and drinks provided.

Please remember that screenprinting is messy!

This session is for pairs of kids (age 8+) and adults, with both participating, so the adult and child each need a ticket.

This is a 'pay what you can' event. For those who can pay, the suggested amount is £16 per place. If affordability is an issue, you can pay up to 50% off this amount.

Screenprinting is a process of transferring a stenciled design onto a flat surface using a screen, ink and a squeegee which forces the ink through the mesh of the screen. Although fabric and paper are the most common screen-printed surfaces, with special inks you can also print onto wood, metal and plastics. A “stencil” can be cut from thin paper, created photographically, or painted directly onto the screen with screen blockers. Designs for screen prints can use just one shade of colour, or several, but colours need to be applied in individual layers, using a separate stencil for each colour. When attached to the screen a stencil will block any ink coming though the mesh of the screen apart from the open cut away areas. The screenprinting technique is widely used for printing fabric and designs on t-shirts and is great for producing multiple copies.

Kindly supported by The Rampion Community Benefit Fund at Sussex Community Foundation, Enjoolata Foundation and the Coop Local Community Fund.
